Looking for pain relief in Charlotte? The healthcare professionals at Dynamic Health utilize the latest advances in technology to provide the most accurate diagnosis and the most comprehensive care plan possible. We provide pain relief without the complications or side effects of addictive drugs.

One of latest pain management technologies we use is electrotherapy. Electrotherapy is the use of electrical energy as a medical treatment. The term can apply to a variety of treatments, including the use of electrical devices such as deep brain stimulators for neurological disease. Electrotherapy treatments can relieve pain, increase range of motion, disperse fluid and swelling as well as relieve spasms, stimulate nerves, and relax muscles. Electrotherapy increases nutrient absorption to your tissues and perform muscle re-education and neural-reprogramming.

There are several different types of electrotherapy, but they all work by delivering short bursts of electricity to specific nerves in your body, temporarily blocking the nerve impulses responsible for transmitting pain signals to your brain. In this way, electrotherapy can be used to alleviate neck and back pain, increase muscle strength and eliminate the symptoms of various musculoskeletal conditions.

Three Types of Electrotherapy

Different conditions require different types of care, which is why we offer three types of electrotherapy methods at our medical clinic:

Micro-Current: each tissue type in your body has its own signature electrical frequency, which may be disrupted by injury or disease. Micro-Current therapy restores normal frequencies within the cells, resulting in a decrease in pain, inflammation and increased functionality.

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulators (TENS):  A TENS unit is a handheld device used at home that produces an electric current used to stimulate nerves. These units have electrodes which can be places on our around the painful area, allowing the user to adjust the intensity of the stimulation.

Interferential Current (IFC): Interferential current is essentially a deeper form of TENS. IFC modulates a high frequency carrier waveform with the same signal produced by a TENS unit. This high frequency allows for a deeper form of electrical stimulation.
