Migraines, a recurring headache felt at the top or front of your head or behind your eyes, frequently have origins in suboccipital muscles and lower cervical issues. Many people suffer from chronic migraines that can be difficult to manage on their own. It’s important to have a trusted doctor or medical professional with expertise and years of experience that knows treatments to lessen or even eliminate these headaches.

Our clinic uses advanced diagnostics and proven treatment protocols to apply a multidisciplinary approach to migraine pain relief.

Refreshed. Energized. Free of Pain.

Our diverse team of doctors and healthcare professionals is waiting to get you on the journey to genuine, long-term relief with a complimentary consultation.

It’s still important to understand that treatments and medication aren’t the only avenues for relief. Taking good care of yourself and understanding simple coping strategies can dramatically improve your quality of life by helping reducing the severity and frequency of your migraines.

Here are five strategies that can help you in between treatments at our clinic:

  • Find a serene environment away from your routine space at the first sign of a migraine.
  • Create a consistent, relaxing post-work schedule that you can even apply for the weekends.
  • Establish a healthy diet that avoids foods that trigger migraines.
  • Maintain an exercise schedule with rigorous physical activity.
  • Manage your levels of stress with breaks, an improved attitude, good time management, and overall enjoyment of daily life.

Achieve balance. Enjoy relief.

For many people, migraines are a daily challenge. By balancing these tips with effective treatments, you have the ability to control the pain. One of the most effective ways to achieve balance is through journaling; this task can help you figure out what triggers your migraines and lead you to better behavioral management techniques.

“I began experiencing migraines in 2005 while I was in college. There were days that I would miss classes because I was unable to get out of the bed. Excedrin stopped working, so I decided to see my Primary Care Physician. I was prescribed migraine medication which made me sick and I felt like I was functioning in what I can only explain as a “fog.” I avoided taking the medication when possible, especially when I felt that the side effects could interfere with work. I had an internship where I was required to climb on roofs and I didn’t want to risk further injury due to the effects of the medication.

I dealt with the pain over the years the best way I could. In addition to the migraines, I was now experiencing neck pain that would radiate down my left shoulder. There were times that I would miss work or have to leave work in the middle of the day due to a migraine. I was introduced to Dynamic Health & Pain Management (DHPM) on April 10, 2013 when they participated at a Health Fair that my job sponsored. On their banner I saw the words, “Pain Management” and decided to find out more about who they were and the services they provided. I didn’t want to depend on medication and I didn’t want to live in pain. Something had to be done.

Dr. Whaley thoroughly explained why I was experiencing the migraines and back pain and the type of treatments that DHPM offered. I began treatment right away. I have noticed that my posture has improved, my back “alerts” me when I go back to the old habits of sitting or lying down in an incorrect position. I have also noticed that the way I feel during the day has improved since starting therapy. I am confident that I will get to the stage where I will no longer need to take medication because I won’t have any migraines or neck pain.”

“My life is filled with constant planning, preparation and time management as an elementary school teacher. Also, newly engaged to the love of my life and planning a wedding for early next year, I don’t have time to deal with pain. Someone in their early 20’s should not experience the pain I endured. In addition to having headaches 3 to 4 times a week, I suffered from horrible tightness and stiff pain in my neck and shoulders.

It all started suddenly years ago when I was in college. I was under a lot of stress and started to get occasional migraines. These random migraines eventually became severe tension headaches that would come every week. If I didn’t have a headache, there would always be a dull aching pain in my head, neck and shoulders.

I couldn’t focus and it became so hard for me to concentrate at work. During the school week, I work on my lesson plans a little each night so I am fully prepared for upcoming weeks. Instead of being productive, I would come home and take a nap. As a result, I’d end up working on lesson plans all weekend just to catch up. My social life didn’t exist. I constantly had to cancel plans with friends because I felt so uncomfortable.

Eventually, I sought out help from a Chiropractor and it worked. However, I had to stop seeing him due to schedule conflicts. Last month, Dynamic Health and Pain Management came to my school during Teacher Appreciation Month and offered my colleagues and I a free consultation to their office. I was in such pain when they screened me, I booked an appointment immediately.

I was having headaches and neck pain because I had lost the entire curve in my neck. It has been just over a month since I started treatment with Dynamic Health and Pain Management and I feel like a whole new person. I have learned so much about what caused my pain and how to keep it from coming back. This was the long-term fix I had been looking for. I am able to be my old self again and focus on what’s most important to me, like my fiancé and my upcoming wedding.”

“The migraines began 11 years ago and came with a vengeance. I was working for a Maid Service at the time, so I assumed that it was the chemicals that I was inhaling on a day to day basis that was causing the migraines. The pain would begin in my neck and would eventually affect my entire head. The pain was dull, sharp and aching all at the same time. Any movement made the pain worse.

Over time the migraines progressed from 1 to 2 a day, to 15 to 16 migraines per day. I would have relief for 15-30 minutes before another one would begin. In addition to the migraines, numbness in my hands and right arm began about 2 years ago.

I went to see my Primary Care Physician and to several Neurologists. They checked my hormone levels, took MRI’s, suggested that I keep a diary of what I was eating in case there were specific triggers, they prescribed medication and also put me on steroids. Needless to say, nothing was working and they were unable to give me any concrete answers as to why I was having the migraines and numbness. When I tried to explain that it felt like I had lumps in my neck, no one paid attention.

I am the proud mother of 5 young children and I knew that I didn’t want to be in my 40’s with this type of pain. It wouldn’t be fair to them. It got to the point where my kids would know when a migraine was coming. I was desperate to get help and relief from the everyday pain.

My first time out of the house in a very long time was when I attended Festival In the Park. Dynamic Health & Pain Management (DHPM) had a booth set up at the event. I decided to get screened, hoping they could provide me with some answers. When the young lady told me that they were able to help other people with migraines, I decided right then and there to come in for the consultation.

Based on my X-rays, Dr. Matz was able to explain the reason why I was having the Migraines and numbness in my hands and arm. I knew I wasn’t imagining things and I was relieved to finally have answers. Dr. Matz explained the treatment protocol and what I could expect.

When I started treatment, my pain level was at a 10. I started noticing difference as soon as I started treatment. I have only had 3 headaches since I started treatment on October 2, 2013 and the pain is just a dull throb and the headaches go away after several minutes.

To go from 15 to 16 migraines per day to only 3 headaches over the span of 23 days is quite simply a miracle. I no longer experience the numbness or pain in my arm. I would recommend DHPM to anyone and everyone. I am confident in their abilities to help others like me.”

“I have been living with chronic migraines my whole life. As far back as grade school, cluster headaches would hit suddenly without notice and progress into migraines. I would get them at least three times a week and it got worse with age.

Originally from Nebraska, I needed a change in scenery. I packed up my things and moved to New Jersey to work as a Nanny. I love children and as time passed, the family and I grew closer together. After years of working with the children, I was asked to move to North Carolina with the family.

It has been over two years since I moved and I love it here. North Carolina is a wonderful state and Charlotte is great. At first it was a culture shock to be in the South. New Jersey is so fast paced, but Charlotte has so much charm and everyone is extremely friendly. Everything in my life was going great, only problem was the migraines.

The most recent years have been a struggle with work because the migraines continued to get worse. As a nanny, I constantly have to be on point. As the saying goes, “You have to have eyes in the back of your head.” I couldn’t do as many things with the children that I wanted.

Movies, reading, heavy physical activity all became difficult. My social life was affected as well. Since I was new to the area, I wanted to go out and meet people. That was put on hold because of headaches. The nausea, light sensitivity and pain made it so hard to life my life.

Upon being referred to Dynamic Health and Pain Management, I was really skeptical because I had been to see doctors before and they were never able to help relieve me of my headaches. I was given medicine and even took a preventative, nothing worked. No one could ever find the cause.

However, after only 7 treatments at Dynamic Health and Pain Management, I feel like a whole new person. I cannot believe the huge difference in the way I feel. My migraines have decreased to maybe one a week and when I have one, it’s not nearly as severe. If I feel this great now, I can only imagine the results at the end.

I cannot explain the care. It is unmatched. Everyone takes the time to make sure you understand each treatment. They talk to you about your condition and genuinely care about helping you improve. My only regret is not being referred to Dynamic Health and Pain Management sooner.”

“In 1979 I was in a terrible car accident and suffered from whiplash. I thought the pain would go away on it’s own but I soon realized that was not the case. I began having headaches that eventually turned into migraines. As the years passed my condition got worse. It got to the point where I would wake up with headaches every single day and they would last the whole day.

I found that I couldn’t do the things I had always loved to do. Before the headaches I used to be very active. I would go out and stay out all day long. Now all I did was stay home in bed. I tried going to my doctor and then to a neurologist. All they did was prescribe stronger and stronger medications that didn’t give me much relief.

One day I got a call from my sister telling me to turn on my television. She was watching a Dynamic Health & Pain Management commercial. After watching the commercial I decided to call for a consultation. During my exam the doctors told me my spine in my neck was curved in the wrong direction and that it was the cause of my headaches. I was surprised because I thought my neck injury was healed years ago. I started treatment that day and noticed improvement after only two treatments. Now, a short time later, I am headache free and I’m back to living a healthy, active life again.”

“I have been suffering from headaches for over 10 years. They would come every month like clock work and were unbearable. I often describe them as being worse than migraines because I couldn’t function.

I work for First Financial as a mortgage funder. I put a lot of time and energy into my job and love it. Naturally when someone misses work from a headache, it must be serious. Just before I saw Dynamic Health and Pain Management on the television, I was out of work for two days from a headache. I never miss work. I couldn’t sleep or eat and was in complete agony.

I have had all kinds of tests and seen many doctors about my headaches, but never found any answers. They would simply feel on my head and prescribe medicine. At one point, I was prescribed 800mg ibuprofen and told to take two at a time. It helped relieve the pain for a short time but eventually stopped working.

When I saw the commercial, I immediately called. After my first visit, Dr. Mazal explained that I get headaches because of the way my spine curves. He assured me that with therapy, the problem could be fixed. At that time, I had a headache for two weeks straight.

Within one week of therapy, the headaches stopped. I am amazed at the way I feel. My problem is being fixed from the source and I am getting better day by day. Thank you Dynamic Health & Pain Management!”
